Greetings to my reader!
The hatches are battened down, I have no lawn furniture, but if I did... it would be in the garage.
I have extra water, Sterno to cook on, and Hurricane Lamps filled with oil. Where I am located in East Texas, the greatest concern we have is loosing electricity. So there is little need to worry about me as Ike slams into Texas.
I have not posted anything for a while. This was not the result of laziness. ( I understand your lack of belief regarding the previous statement, but really I have not been lazy. ) You see I have not had much to say lately.
Pause.
Ok, has everyone cleaned up their spilled coffee or recovered from their hysterical laughter? Good. Moving right along...
I have been thinking quite a bit lately about sacrifice. No, not cats at midnight, or refraining from "Super Sized" fries & a Diet Coke. I have really been thinking about sacrifice. What does it mean in everyday life, family relationships, or any other relationship for that matter. To be honest, I am still thinking about it.
However, with the impending rain, wind and possible tornadoes headed this direction... I wanted to put a nugget out there for my reader to consider. If you have any thoughts, post 'em for me to browse. ( Assuming I have electricity after Saturday. )
If you are inclined to pray for someone, pray for the people working the shelters. Many of them are churches, and they are hoping to show the evacuees the love of Christ. More importantly, the people who evacuated ahead of Gustav only returned this past weekend, and early this week. The official forecasts had Ike moving further west, so areas like Beaumont, were not scheduled to evacuate. Most of the evacuees to come to this area are from Beaumont and surrounding areas, so the preparation time for the shelters has been very short for Ike.
