This was a good article about an interesting program. I am personally in favor of rewarding the inmates that show progress & follow the rules.
This is just a comment made by one person in the article. It is not the focus of the article, nor should it be. I just had to chuckle when I read this:
"Anything that creates a market incentive to lock people up undermines the very purpose of our criminal justice system," says Sheila Bedy, executive director of the Justice Policy Institute, a Washington DC-based prison research foundation."
I wonder, does Ms. Bedy oppose the "War on Drugs"? Or does she only question some things that create market incentives to lock people up?
