Thoughts On A Democratic White House

I heard a story not so long ago, it went something like this:

A young lady came home from her first year of college. She was sitting and talking with her father one day, and their conversation went as follows.
“Dad, I think we should have the government take money away from the rich people and give it away to the people who are poor.”
“Really,” the dad sounded truly intrigued. “Why do you think that sweetie?”
“Well, the poor are at a disadvantage when it comes to making money. They don’t have the same opportunities as the wealthy to make money.”
“Oh, ok,” the father nodded in approval. “What was your GPA this year?”
Thinking she had made her point and that the conversation was moving on to another topic, she beamed as she reported that she had a 4.0 GPA.
“Well,” said her father, “I think we should take your 4.0, and give some of your points to other students that did not make good grades last year. Even the playing field as it were. Then everyone could have good enough grades to pass and stay in school.”
“What!?” She looked at her father in horror. “I worked hard to earn that 4.0!”
Smiling softly, and looking at his daughter in that loving way only a father can, he responded. “The people who make money, work hard to earn that too.”
